The most common misconception in regarding panic and or anxiety is that the physical and emotional experiences associated with them are unhealthy. This is just not the case. In fact, the opposite is true. When you truly understand how the mind and body are tied to this experience, then you will learn to embrace the feelings associated with panic and anxiety.

“Embrace these feelings? What? Are you crazy?”

Don’t think I can’t see that eyebrow arching!

Our thoughts are directly related to what we feel. Conversely, our feelings are directly related to our thoughts. Get it? Got it?

Imagine what would happen if instead of telling yourself, “I’m going crazy! I’m having a heart attack! I can’t take it anymore! I’m having a nervous breakdown!” you told yourself, “My body is one of the most miraculous machines on the planet! I can handle anything life throws at me!  It’s a physical impossibility for nerves to breakdown!”

The first group of thoughts is based in the unreal state of fear. The second group of thoughts is based in reality. The real choice is which world you choose to live in? Believe it or not, you do have a choice in this exciting journey.

“Exciting? Dude, are you smoking crack!”

We have all heard the adage: knowledge equals power. Yet, in the case of panic and anxiety, knowledge = peace! Your job is to educate yourself, not sit there feeling sorry for yourself. The reason panic and or anxiety rear their ugly heads is because you have not taken action. Your body and mind are literally kicking you out of bed or off the sofa, screaming at you to, do something!  Anything!

“Okay! Okay! What am I supposed to do?”

Congratulations, you have taken the first step.
